As if blogging could help.

If I were to describe how I feel with a picture... this one would sum it up. I have nothing. But feelings, a voice, a mind and these hands. I should be thankful enough but I feel so rock bottom. Once upon a time I could choose kobe steak but if I go grocery shopping this month I'll have a cart well basket more like full of this. I want stability and a place to create or rot. It could be worse. It could always be worse. It could be worse. It is what it is. IT COULD BE WORSE. IT COULD BE.

No Sleep Till Brooklyn...

So I'm saying farewell to LA... I spent the day at Venice beach (stag style). It was quite a lovely day (minus the boardwalk freakshow) and now I'm finishing my send-off with some Bohemia Clasica and a Double Double.

Farewell

and Hello Again.

The Queen Enlightens.

Apparently, the amazing Hayao Miyazake has done it once again. If you don't know who he is I recommend looking him up.
I first fell in love with him when I purchased "My Neighbor Totoro" then came "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Princess Mononoke", "The Cat Returns" and "Spirited Away". He is so brilliant and never fails to make me feel like a curious and crazy imaginative child again. I cannot wait till the english version hits the streets!!

A special thanks goes to Queen Marie for alerting me of this. xoxo

Sad Nautical Songs...

It was overcast that day in Monterey the sun came in out of view while I walked along the beach in near solitude. I could barely hear the seals sing at the marina anymore and the construction workers working on the sea wall were raisin sized, by now. I don't know if I could blame it on a full moon but I couldn't stop the flood of thoughts and emotion. I was a step up from a seal after filling my belly with sashimi and wine so a mermaid would that make me? I don't suppose mermaids wear boots though... but I bet they drink wine.

Farewell San Jose...
hi Eureka...

That's What I Want.

Mmmm... Breakfast. Especially if a certain someone made it ;) Anyhow I came across this video by the Dutch artist Parra for the song by the lovely "Le Le" I know it's been around for awhile but I just now saw the video. It puts a goofy smile on my face so it may just be worth checking out:

Little Begonia Approves.

What happens when my dearest friend Jen Lasher gets together with that kid from Maryland who is too fat to be a hipster (Oh snap!)? "So Dynamite" Check it out on myspace!

Tut Tut it looks like rain...

Which on the road makes for even slower internet. I'm in transit from Colorado Springs to Albuquerque. Feeling pretty sluggish today I blame the rain, oktoberfest ale and pretzels with beer cheese. It's not part of the diet but since when do I follow rules?
Oh and the rain... So, I'm doing the normal scouting for new music by fumbling around on myspace and imeem when I stumbled across some new Ani Difranco. Although, I can barely listen to her anymore it brought me back to the memories of my personal first wave of feminism. It was Me Camille and the world. We ransacked Cat's Music and McKay's used bookstore regularly, so to speak. Ani won me over when she said "my pussy is a tractor" we had to rewind it three times over to be sure but it was what we had thought we heard.
I sampled the new album and I didn't find it the slightest bit arousing. But I still hold a special place in my heart for that woman. And songs such as "Both Hands", "32 Flavors", and "Shy".

Since we are talking new music it looks as though Devin the Dude is about to drop another album on October 7th and I cannot wait. It's about time I fall in love with some new hip-hop again I've been losing faith lately.
I also having a feeling that Outkast is cooking up something good or a prayer at least. 2009 eh.

Killer Indeed...

So, I ate at this joint in Salt Lake City yesterday and the sign says it all. If you are ever in the area just go there. I had a chicken mole dish called mole negro because I like my mole dark, like my men.

What I'm listening to...

Below is some footage of Odetta at what I believe to be from the Newport Festival in other performers included : John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, & Nina Simone (in other words "sick").

So here I am...

On the road now. In a place called Park City Utah. It's not at all where I expected to be but it's alright, for now.

I miss New York and I miss Brooklyn. When I get back I wanna go ride the Wonderwheel and the Cyclone. I might just have myself a Nathans hot dog as well...

I'll probably wear this:
